How do I use Simple Sugars Products?
You can use Simple Sugars products in the shower, bath, or even at your sink. To use, simply stir well and apply generously to wet skin. Scrub until the sugar dissolves, rinse off, and towel dry for silky smooth skin. Our products cleanse, exfoliate, and moisturize in one easy step, so you don’t need any additional cleansing agents, toners, moisturizers or lotions.
How often should I use my Simple Sugars products?
Every time you shower! All Simple Sugars products are specially formulated to be safe for DAILY use on even the most sensitive skin. We recommend that our body products be used every time you shower, and recommend that our facial products be used twice a day, morning and night, when you wash your face.
Should I use a loofah/washcloth/etc?
You can use a loofah or washcloth to apply your scrub, but we recommend just using your hands so they can get exfoliated and moisturized too!
Do I need to wash my face or take off my makeup before using a the facial products?
Absolutely not! The products cleanse, exfoliate and moisturize so there is no need to use anything else before. The oils flush your pores and thoroughly clean your skin without stripping it like foaming cleansers do, and also break down makeup so it will just wash off when you scrub!
Do I need to use lotion or moisturizer afterward?
ABSOLUTELY NOT!! Simple Sugars products moisturize so thoroughly that even those of you with the driest skin ever will not need lotion. We call this Going No-Lo (No Lotion!) and we know it can be hard to believe, but just trust us, it works, and it will change your life!
General Product Questions
What’s the shelf life of your products?
Our products have a shelf life of 12-24 months unopened. There is no need to refrigerate, but they should be kept in a dry place away from exposure to excessive heat. Once the products are opened, we recommend you use them up within 6 weeks for best results.
How should I store my products?
You can keep your opened products in the shower, but you want to avoid getting any water in the products as it will dissolve the sugar. We highly recommend purchasing a flip-top lid to make it easier to open and close your jar and to help keep water from getting into your jar while you’re using it. Unopened products should be stored in a cool, dry place, and should not be exposed to excessive heat.
What’s the difference between the products for the face/body/feet?
The facial products are the most gentle (least abrasive) formulation. They also contain a higher concentration of Vitamin E, jojoba oil, and antioxidants, which are all excellent ingredients for your face, but not needed in as high of a concentration for your body. All facial products are formulated for a certain skin type or to address a specific skin concern, so you should choose your facial based on your skin type or skin concern, whereas the body products are all interchangeable and you can choose based on whichever scent you like best. The body products are more aggressive exfoliators and come in a wider variety of scents. The foot products are the most heavy-duty exfoliators and contain a different blend of oils especially for very dry feet.
Are Simple Sugars products safe for children?
Yes, Simple Sugars products are safe for children (and babies!). The entire product line is so natural and gentle that they are safe for any child over the age of 1 year old - we just recommend that you choose a scent that they’ll enjoy using (usually Vanilla and Strawberry are very popular!). For babies under a year old, we recommend using the Avocado Facial or the Avocado Facial with Emu Oil because they are the most gentle and most emollient of products in the line. What if my dog eats my Simple Sugars?
Believe it or not, we have had reports of customer’s dogs actually opening sealed jars and eating the whole thing! They know what's good. No worries if your pooch gets into your Simple Sugars - they are completely all-natural and technically safe for even a human to eat!
I’m travelling and want to take my scrub. What is the best way to transport it?
The best way to transport your scrub is unopened. We use a pressure sensitive seal, which disengages the first time the product is opened, so travelling with a still sealed scrub is always the best way. Check out our Smoothness to Go travel sets for mini sizes made just for this!
If you have an already opened scrub that you need to take with you (we understand, you can’t be without your scrub!!), we recommend taking the following steps to minimize the change for leakage while travelling: 1) Remove the lid and wipe both the inside threads of the lid and the threads of the jar clean before replacing the lid. This allows you to get the lid on as tightly as possible. 2) Do not travel with a flip top lid on your scrub! Flip top lids are designed to make products easy to open in the shower, but do not prevent leakage (this is why all scrubs are sold with a flat white lid and not a flip top lid).

Choosing A Product
Help! I don’t know which product to choose.
To choose a body product: All of the body products are interchangeable and equally as effective, so choose whichever scent most appeals to you. There is no difference in the efficacy or moisturization between for example, Almond and Coconut, the base formula is the same, the difference is just that they smell different.
That being said, there is a different between the products with emu oil and without. Emu Oil adds an extra boost of moisturization and is recommended for anyone with a skin condition like eczema or psoriasis or very dry skin, so if you meet one of these criteria, you’ll want to choose a product with emu oil.

What is the best product to use for eczema or psoriasis?
First of all, we cannot and do not make any claims about the results or potential benefits our products may have and results may vary. Our products have not been clinically tested, and we do not, in any way, guarantee results, we can only share the success stories and testimonials from our customers and our founder.
That being said, we highly recommend that those with eczema or psoriasis use the products with emu oil. Aside from that, all scents are equally as effective, so we recommend choosing whichever scent most appeals to you!

Can I use a facial on my body or a body on my face?
You can use a facial (which is the gentlest) on your body, but we DO NOT recommend using a body product on your face, especially if you have sensitive skin. We make a facial product for a reason - because it is a different formula that is better for your face!

YES! All of our products are safe for even the most sensitive skin. We know that many of you with sensitive skin have probably been told to use only unscented products. Well, now that you’ve found Simple Sugars, not anymore! Although it is a fact that the perfumes used in many scented products are serious skin irritants, our scents are chosen especially because they are non irritating and safe for sensitive skin. This is part of what makes Simple Sugars so special for people with sensitive skin: you don’t have to use boring unscented products anymore! You can use something that smells amazing.

Are Simple Sugars products vegan?
The only Simple Sugars products that contain any animal ingredients are the products with emu oil. That being said, we cannot technically claim the rest of our line is vegan because we do not use vegan sugar (which is less refined and therefore has a larger crystal size, which is not as gentle of an exfoliant).
I have an allergy - are Simple Sugars products safe for me?
For specific allergy concerns, please email firstname.lastname@example.org and let us know which product you are interested in and we can provide a more specific ingredient list. All products are nut free with the exception of Almond Body and Hazelnut Body. All Simple Sugars products contain Organic Soybean Oil. While we try our best to minimize the chance, all Simple Sugars products are processed in the same facility, so we cannot guarantee that there is no cross-contamination.
What is Emu Oil and why should I order my product with it?
Emu adds an extra boost of moisturization to our products and is recommended for anyone with very dry skin, sensitive skin, or a skin condition like eczema or psoriasis.
Emu oil is incredibly moisturizing, but rapidly absorbs, leaving your skin super hydrated without any greasy feeling. Emu oil has a very similar chemical composition to the sebum (aka oil) naturally produced by our bodies so it is completely non-irritating. It has anti-inflammatory, pain-relieving, and healing properties making it an excellent choice for anyone suffering from a skin condition like eczema or psoriasis, and also has purported benefits for burns and scarring. It does not change the scent of the products, so your Simple Sugars product will smell just as amazing with the emu oil added as it does without it.
How do you get the Emu Oil?
Emu oil is derived from the back fat of the emu bird. We source our emu oil from an emu farm in the united states. Emus are raised for their meat, and the oil is a byproduct, so they are not killed for their oil.
How are Simple Sugars products tested?
Simple Sugars products are not tested on animals. We test all of our products on ourselves and our wonderful group of human guinea pigs. Amongst us, we have eczema, psoriasis, oily skin, dry skin, mature skin, acne-prone skin…. we cover all the bases. We don’t sell anything until we love it!
Simple Sugars products have not been clinically tested and we cannot make any claims about the effects of our products on any particular skin conditions - we can only talk about the success stories we've heard from our customers, friends, and our founder. That being said, we have done micro and skin sensitivity testing to ensure that all of our products are safe!
What is the shelf-life of the products and do they have to be refrigerated?
The shelf life of the products is 18-24 months unopened when stored properly. They do not need to be refrigerated, but prolonged exposure to high temperatures can affect the scent of the products, so we recommend storing them in a cool, dry place. Once opened, we recommend you use your products within 6 weeks for best results.
Smooth For Men
How exactly do I use a Smooth For Men product?
It’s just as easy as using soap - we promise. You can use the products in the shower or bath or even at the sink. Simply open your jar, give it a stir, and apply to wet skin (we recommend using about three heaping spoonfuls for your body, or one for your face, if you’d like to use the spoon included, or you can just scoop some out with your hands!). Scrub until you feel the sugar melt, rinse off, and you’re done! Our products cleanse, exfoliate, AND moisturize in one easy step, so your skin will feel great and you won’t need any additional moisturizers or lotions.
What is the difference between Smooth for Men and Simple Sugars products?
Simple Sugars and Smooth for Men products are exactly the same. The only difference is the packaging, and some of the scents offered.
Shipping and Returns
How much is shipping?
We use UPS as our preferred shipper for domestic packages and USPS for international addresses. The shipping cost depends on the weight of the package and how far away you are from our HQ in Pittsburgh, PA. To find your exact shipping cost, place the items you would like to order in your shopping cart, continue on to the next step in the checkout process, and enter your shipping address. Please note: we are VERY aware that shipping is expensive. We pass on the direct shipping cost that we pay to UPS to you and we never add a handling or service fee of any kind. You pay what we pay, and unfortunately, as a small business with one location, there is no way we can get that cost to be any less expensive than it is.
How long will it take for my product to arrive?
All orders are processed and shipped from our facility within 2 business days. Shipping time varies depending on how far away you are from our facility in Pittsburgh, PA and which shipping service you choose. With basic surepost shipping (and free shipping), on average, packages shipping to the PA/OH/WV area arrive in 2-3 days*, the northeast, southeast, and midwest in 3-5 days*, and the west coast and southwest in 5-7 days*. These are only estimated times, if you have more specific questions or need your package to arrive by a certain date, please contact our customer service team for more specific information.

What is your Return Policy?
Simple Sugars products are final sale and not returnable or exchangeable. Shipping charges are non-refundable. All orders are final and cannot be changed or canceled once placed.
My package arrived damaged - what do I do?
Call us right away or send us an email and our customer service department will happily assist you (888-819-8994 or email@example.com). It’s unlikely, but possible, that a jar might leak or your package may get damaged during shipment, but don't worry, we're here to help! Please be sure to contact us within 3 business days of receiving your package and to expedite the replacement process, please send along a picture of your damaged package or product.
I live outside the US/have an APO/FPO address. Can you ship to me?
Yes! International customers are responsible for any and all customs duties, taxes, and brokerage fees that a shipment may incur. We are not able to determine the amount of these fees before shipping to you, they will be due at the time you receive your package. Any shipment returned to us due to rejection by customs will not be refunded. Please familiarize yourself with your country's import restrictions/requirements prior to placing your order.
How long does order processing take?
Orders will ship within 2 business days. If the product you ordered is out of stock (this will be noted when you place your order), please allow additional time for shipping. Please note that this is the time it takes for your order to leave our warehouse, not the amount of time it takes to be delivered to your door. You will receive an email when your order ships out with complete tracking information.
What if I want to cancel or change my order after I have placed it?
All orders are final and cannot be cancelled or changed after they are placed. We submit orders directly to our fulfillment team so they can get processed immediately and shipped out to you as soon as possible. For this reason we cannot make cancellations or changes.
The product I want to order says "out of stock" - what does that mean?
We hand-make every single one of our products. If you order a product that is out of stock, it just means that we are in the process of making more and your order may require a few additional days of processing time. You can still order an item when it shows “out of stock” status, but please note that your entire order will be held and shipped together when everything is in stock. Your credit card will be charged at the time you place your order.

All of our products are available on subscription, with the exception of seasonal items. To subscribe, simply choose the “subscribe” option on the product page and complete your purchase and you will be signed up to have that product autoshipped every 30 days. Subscriptions can be cancelled or modified (to change the product(s) included) at any time - simply log in through your Simple Sugars customer login and click “manage subscriptions”.

The Super Smooth Club is our customer loyalty program that rewards our smoothest customers with discounts and special perks.
