Directions for use

I've never used a cleansing exfoliating moisturizer before. How do I use it?

Well it’s simple, really. The first thing you do when you open the jar is to give the product a good stir, because the oils come to the top. You want to make sure the product is mixed thoroughly before each use to make sure your last use is as awesome as the first.

You can use the products in the shower or bath or even at the sink, just make sure to apply to wet skin. Just scoop out a little into your hand (you can use the handy portioning spoon we include with your purchase) and rub onto your wet skin. Sure you can use a washcloth or bath pouf, or anything you want to apply the product but we prefer our hands because, hey why not treat them at the same time, right?  Using enough water to get the sugar to start to melt, rub the product onto your wet skin until you feel nothing but smoothness and then rinse off. Since our products cleanse, exfoliate and moisturize in one easy step, you don’t need any additional cleansing agents, toners, moisturizers or lotions

How often should I use Simple Sugars for face and body?

The short answer is every time you take a shower or bath! All Simple Sugars products are specially formulated to be safe for DAILY use on even the most sensitive skin. We recommend that our facials be used twice a day. (Yes, twice a day – they’re that gentle! )

Our cleansing exfoliating moisturizers are intended for safe DAILY use on even the most sensitive skin and because they cleanse, gently exfoliate and thoroughly moisturize (hence the name :) in one easy step, it’s really all you need. It’s sort of a have-to-feel-it-to-believe it kind of thing, but trust us, when we say GO NOLO*, we really mean it! Your skin will be so soft and smooth you’ll see for yourself that you don’t need any additional moisturizer. How awesome is that?!


How should I store my products?

Well, you want to keep them someplace handy that’s for sure. You can keep them in the shower, but you definitely want to prevent getting any water into the products or else you are going to melt the sugar and lose the exfoliating part of the CLEXMO* experience. We highly recommend purchasing a flip-top lid to not only make the whole in-the-shower Simple Sugars experience SO much easier, but also to help to keep water from getting into your jar while you’re using it.

Do I need to wash my face or take off my makeup before using a Simple Sugars Facial?

Absolutely not! The products CLEANSE, exfoliate and moisturize, remember? The oils flush out your pores and thoroughly clean your skin without stripping it like foaming cleansers do. And yes, Simple Sugars Facials will remove your makeup! Just be VERY careful around your eyes.

Should I use lotion (body) or moisturizer (face) afterward?

Ok, we hope you're just kidding! ABSOLUTELY NOT!! This is what Going NOLO is all about! It really is a revolution in dry skin care because even those of you with the driest, alligator skin ever WILL NOT NEED LOTION! Don't believe us? You have to try it then and you'll see that after using Simple Sugars your skin will be soft and smooth and will stay that way until your next shower or wash without any additional lotion or moisturizer. 

What’s the shelf-life of your products?

Our products have a shelf life of about 18 months as long as they are unopened. There is no need to refrigerate, unless you want a really refreshing shower!

Are Simple Sugars safe for children? 

Yes, Simple Sugars cleansing exfoliating moisturizers are all-natural and formulated to be safe for even the most sensitive skin, including that of infants and children. All of the products are even safe if ingested. 

For babies under a year old, we recommend using the Avocado Facial or the Avocado Facial with Emu Oil because they are the most gentle and most emollient of the products. Children over 1 year of age can use any of the products safely. Also, there is nothing in any Simple Sugars product that would be harmful to a child if it was swallowed. We do recommend that you keep all products out of the reach of little ones (if for no other reason, than to avoid a mess!) just to be on the safe side. 

What if my dog eats my Simple Sugars?

Believe it or not, we have had reports of customer’s dogs actually opening sealed jars and eating the whole thing! They know what's good. No worries if your pooch gets into your Simple Sugars but be aware that certain things will be a little, shall we say, smoother than usual for a little while.

Emu oil 

What is Emu Oil?

Emu oil is an amazing ingredient that comes from the back fat of the emu bird. It has the allergenicity of water, penetrates super quickly into the skin and adds a super shot of moisture to any Simple Sugars product.

How do you get the emu oil?

We buy the emu oil from a reputable supplier. Emus are raised for their high-protein, low-fat meat. The oil is a by-product. So yes, the emus are sacrificed but NOT for their oil.

Why should I get my cleansing exfoliating moisturizer with emu oil?

We recommend that you purchase a cleansing exfoliating moisturizer with emu oil added if you have a skin condition like eczema or psoriasis or have super dry skin. You should also consider it if you want the ultimate smoothest skin ever. It really is amazing stuff.

I don’t use products that contain animal products. Why in the world would you use oil from an emu?

While we recognize and respect that there are many people that prefer NOT to use any animal products, our primary mission is to serve those with sensitive skin. Emu oil is simply an amazing ingredient for people with sensitive skin. The emus are not sacrificed for their oil, the oil is a by-product. We also offer all of our products without emu oil for those who prefer not to use any products containing ingredients that come from animals.

Facial vs. Body vs. Foot 

What’s the difference between the products for the face and the one for the body?

The facials are the gentlest formulation because they contain a lower concentration of sugar. They also contain more Vitamin E, jojoba oil and grapeseed oil (all excellent ingredients for your face!) than the products for the body. Also, there are 12 varieties of facials and are all made from ingredients that are especially loaded with good-for-skin ingredients (see individual product listings for details). The body products are more aggressive exfoliators and come in a wider variety of scents. The foot product is the most heavy-duty exfoliator and also contains the most serious moisturizer, because feet, well they require the big guns!


Why do the facials cost more?

Because they contain more expensive ingredients.

Can I use a facial on my body?

Sure, you can use a facial (gentlest) on your body, but we don’t recommend using a body product (and definitely not the foot version) on your face, especially if you have sensitive skin. The facials are a different formula that is better suited to the more sensitive skin on your face.

Which Facial is right for my skin type?

We have something for everyone! Our facials are all formulated to address a particular skin type or concern.

          Can Simple Sugars make me look younger, cure my acne, or keep me from getting fine lines and wrinkles?

          Let us be perfectly clear here: Simple Sugars makes absolutely no claims, whatsoever, about the possible benefits using our products may impart to your skin. Here’s what we know: we use all-natural ingredients, that each have a great profile when it comes to being healthy. We don’t think you should put anything on your skin that you couldn’t eat, if you had to. We choose ingredients that have loads of vitamins and antioxidants and other supposedly good-for-you stuff. But truly, in the end, Simple Sugars is all about feeling great! Your skin will feel great!  And you will feel great knowing that you’re using an all-natural product that doesn’t contain parabens or propyl polyglcol- something or others. And if you happen to notice some skin benefits for yourself (and most people do) that’s just icing on the cake as far as we’re concerned. We don't know about you, but we like our cake with icing! Of course, you should always check with your doctor or dermatologist if you have specific questions about your skin. And if for some reason you develop an irritation from a Simple Sugars you should, of course, discontinue use immediately.

          Sensitive Skin

          You have so many scents but I can't use anything with a scent...

          Not to be flip, but we're willing to bet you on this one. All of our products are safe for even the most sensitive skin (yeah, we're talking to you "I can't use a scented product" people).

          Although it is a fact that the perfumes used in many scented products are serious skin irritants, it all depends on what's actually being used to give the product its scent. This is part of the Simple Sugars GO NOLO Revolution! We use safe scents, (ok don't say that three times fast...)  because we think it is so totally unfair that people with sensitive skin should have to use boring scentless products when they can safely use one that smells like heaven!

          We actually do sell an unscented product but honestly, we almost shed tears when someone buys it out of sadness for what they're missing out on! Our products smell beyond divine.

          Eczema and Psoriasis 

          What is the best product to use for eczema or psoriasis?

          DISCLAIMER TIME! First of all, we cannot and do not make any claims about the benefits or potential benefits our products may have for those with a medical condition like eczema or psoriasis since they have not been studied in randomized clinical trials for the treatment of these conditions. We do not, in any way, guarantee results.

          We can however, relate the personal experience of our founder as well as report the hundreds of unsolicited testimonials we have received from happy customers who claim that our products helped them dramatically when nothing else could. You can read testimonials here.

          We highly recommend that those with eczema or psoriasis use the products with the emu oil.

          What is Lani’s favorite and what worked for her eczema?

          Lani’s overall favorites are Almond Body with Emu Oil and Strawberry Facial with Emu OIl. But to be honest, of course she uses all of the products and thinks they all work equally as well to keep her eczema from coming back.

          What exactly is in a Simple Sugars Cleansing Exfolitaing Moisturizer?

          Well let’s start by telling you what’s NOT in any of Simple Sugars products. There are no PEGs, parabens, sulphates or phthalates (a.k.a. the potentially harmful chemicals usually found in artificial fragrances) artificial preservatives, colors or additives in any of Simple Sugars products.

          We start with pure cane sugar (non GMO) then we add a custom blend of all-natural oils that we source from trusted and certified suppliers. The blend, depending on which product it is, may contain one or more of the following: organic soybean oil, grapeseed oil, safflower oil, jojoba oil, apricot kernel oil or sweet cherry kernel oil. (all formulations DO contain organic soybean oil).The products contain natural and organic ingredients (for example, lemonade contains fresh organic lemon zest, chocolate contains real raw organic cocoa powder etc.), botanicals, essential oils, and in some cases botanical fragrances that are alcohol and phthalate-free and safe for sensitive skin. They also contain Vitamins C and E as well as citric acid, which balances the pH of the formulations. 

          Here is the complete list of ingredients. Please note this list is inclusive, meaning all of the ingredients in any of our varieties is included, some ingredients are specific to a certain variety. For example, organic pink grapefruit zest is an ingredient in the Pink Grapefruit Body and is not an ingredient in any of the other products.

          Pure cane sugar, soybean oil*, depending on the variety may contain one or more of the following: grapeseed oil, sweet cherry kernel oil, apricot kernel oil, highly linoleic safflower oil, jojoba oil, mixed tocopherols and tocotrienols (vitamin E), ascorbic acid (Vitamin C), citric acid, emu oil (only if specified), acai berry extract*,aloe vera oil, aloe vera leaf extract, aloe vera leaf powder, almonds*(only in the almond body), avocado*, apple*, black cherry extract, blueberry powder, camu camu powder*, cinnamon, raw cocoa powder*, coconut*, coffee, coffee fruit extract, cranberry powder, cucumber extract*, dried eucalyptus leaves, green tea powder, grapeseed extract*, green coffee bean extract, green tea extract*, ground ginger*, hazelnut oil, lavender buds*, lemon zest*, lime zest*, mango powder*, nutmeg, peach powder*, pink grapefruit zest*, pomegranate powder*, raspberry powder, rose hips*, strawberry powder*, tangerine zest*, tomato powder*, vanilla bean paste, essential oils, phthalate-free botanical fragrances.

          How are Simple Sugars tested?

          We test all of our products on ourselves and our wonderful group of human guinea pigs aka our employees whom we affectionately refer to as "The Simpies." Amongst us, we have eczema, psoriasis, oily skin, dry skin, mature skin, acne-prone skin…. we cover all the bases. We don’t sell anything until we love it! And of course, Simple Sugars products have never been, are not now, nor will they ever be tested on animals. 

          Simple Sugars products have not been medically tested. We cannot make any claims about the effects of our products on any particular skin conditions - we can only talk about the success stories we've heard from our customers, friends, and our founder.           If Simple Sugars don’t contain preservatives how do they stay free of bacteria?

          Our products contain no ARTIFICIAL preservatives. But quite a few of our ingredients act as preservatives. Vitamin E for example. Also citric acid and the essential oils themselves have preservative (and often antiseptic) qualities. Since our products are oil-based and not water-based, they aren’t good environments for bacteria to grow in.

          What is the shelf-life of the products and do they have to be refrigerated?

          The shelf life of the products is 18-24 months if stored under proper conditions. Prolonged exposure to high temperatures can affect the scent of the products, so you don't want to leave your package sitting in the mailbox in the summertime in Phoenix for example. 

          Does Strawberry really have strawberries in it?

          It sure does. And vanilla has pure vanilla bean paste and almond has real ground organic almonds and coconut has real, organic coconut, and well you get the idea….right??

          What if I’m allergic to nuts?

          All of Simple Sugars products are “nut-free” with the obvious exception of the almond body  and hazelnut body. We cannot guarantee that there is absolutely no cross-contamination (our production space is just too small!) but we do use separate tools and carefully clean all tables and production space between batches.

            Well here's a little secret that's not actually a scret at all: the Smooth For Men products are exactly the same formulation as the Simple Sugars products. Of course, you can use a washcloth or scrubby thing but hands are easier and they’ll benefit too so why not just keep it simple? Rub until you feel the sugar melt and then rinse off. Since our products cleanse, exfoliate AND moisturize in one easy step, you don’t need any additional moisturizers or lotions.  GO NO-LO!

            Do you have other products besides cleansing exfoliating moisturizers?

            Nope. We’re all about the simple. Simple Sugars products cleanse, exfoliate AND moisturize in one easy step so you never need lotion. We call it going NOLO, our customers call it amazing. 

            Why don't your porducts come in a bigger size than 8 oz.?

            For one thing, like just about everything but wine and cheese, the fresher the better!  For another thing, we’ve found that most of our customers like to have a little variety when it comes to their Simple Sugars. For example, you might need a lemonade or coffee jump start in the morning, but prefer a soothing, relaxing lavender experience for an evening bath. Eight ounces should last you about a month if you're on the stingy side– a couple of weeks if you are, what we very affectionately refer to as, a slatherer. So order a backup, or better yet, get a subscription if you’re worried about running out!

            What if my package arrived damaged? 

            Call us right away or shoot us an email and our customer service department will happily assist you (888-819-8994 or It’s unlikely, but possible, that a jar might leak or your package may get damaged during shipment, but don't worry, we're here to help! Please be sure to contact us within 3 business days of receiving your package.  To expedite the replacement process, please send along a picture of your damaged package.

            Simple Sugars products are final sale and not returnable. Shipping charges are non-refundable. All orders are final and cannot be changed or canceled once placed.

            How much is shipping?

            We use Fedex as our preferred shipper for domestic packages. The shipping cost depends on the weight of the package and how far away you are. To find your exact shipping cost, place the items you would like to order in your shopping cart, continue on to the next step in the checkout process, and enter your address. Please note that we are VERY aware that shipping is expensive. We pass on the direct shipping cost that we pay to Fedex we never add a handling or service fee of any kind. You pay what we pay and we agree that it's a lot! We have no control over these prices unfortunately. 

            International customers are responsible for any and all customs duties, taxes, and brokerage fees that a shipment may incur. We are not able to determine the amount of these fees before shipping to you. Any shipment returned to us due to rejection by customs will not be refunded. Please familiarize yourself with your country's import restrictions/requirements prior to placing your order

            Questions about your order

            When do orders go out/how long does order processing take?

            Under normal circumstances, orders will ship within 1-2 business days. If the product you ordered is out of stock, please allow additional time for shipping. Please note that this is the time it takes for your order to leave our warehouse, not the amount of time it takes to be delivered to your door. You will receive an email when your order ships out with complete tracking information. 

            What if I want to cancel my order or switch a product after I have placed it?

            All orders are final and cannot be cancelled or changed after they are placed. We submit orders directly to our fulfillment team so they can get processed immediately and shipped out to you as soon as possible and they are super quick. For this reason we cannot make cancellations or changes. 

            The product I want to order says "out of stock" - what does that mean?

            If you order a product that is out of stock, it just means that we are making more and it’s just not quite done yet. You can still order an item when it shows “out of stock” status, your order will just require additional processing time before shipping. If you order an out of stock item, your entire order will be held and shipped together when everything is in stock. Your credit card will be charged at the time you place your order.

            Super Smooth Club

            What is the Super Smooth Club and how can I become a member?

            The Super Smooth Club is our customer loyalty program that rewards our smoothest customers with discounts and special perks. You automatically become a member of the club and will be notified when you spend $200 in a year. The club has three levels, Silver, Gold and Pink. The higher the level, the more exciting the rewards!

            How does the club work?

            Members automatically qualify when they reach $200.00 in combined web sales in a calendar year. Rewards are earned for each $100.00 spent after qualifying for the club. The club has 3 levels:

            Silver – Minimum of $200.00 in combined web sales in a calendar year and earns members 10% rewards

            Gold – Minimum of $500.00 in combined web sales in a calendar year and earns members $10 rewards

            Pink – Minimum of $1000.00 in combined web sales in a calendar year and earn members $15 rewards

            The totals for each customer are rolling, but reset at the end of the year. The highest level reached is good for the calendar year in which you qualify and the following calendar year. Annual requalification is required.

            When will I receive my rewards?

            Rewards are sent out on the first of every month via email based on the bank amount at the end of the previous month. Limit one use per reward code and cannot be combined with any other promotions.

            Why am I not receiving my rewards?

            Members must be signed up for our email list to ensure they are being sent rewards. Members also should add our email address ( to their email contacts to make sure the reward emails are not being sent to their spam folder.
