Acne is the most common skin condition in the US

Having acne sucks. That's all there is to it. It doesn't matter if you're a teenager, a millennial or even middle-aged - it still totally sucks to have to deal with acne. On top of that, acne messes with your self-confidence because when you think you don't look good, you don't feel good about yourself.

So, we get it. People will go to desperate measures to "fix" their acne problem. If you've ever made an "emergency" appointment with the dermatologist because you just can't deal with the "mess" your skin is in, you know what I'm talking about.

If the fact that acne is the most common skin condition in the US doesn't surprise you, maybe this fact will: the most commonly prescribed treatments are retinoids combined with antibiotics. Sadly, both can have pretty significant side-effects.

Retinoids cause dryness and irritation. Dryness is exactly what acne prone skin does not need. And almost every antibiotic has this on its label: "stomach upset, diarrhea, nausea, or vomiting may occur." Unless, you get prescribed Accutane. That one has an even more impressive (as in NOT GOOD AT ALL) side effect profile. You can check that out here. But hey, anything is better than a face full of zits, right? Actually, not right at all!

So why in the world do doctors prescribe these things? Well, because they can work and people go to doctor's to get "fixed"and doctors often "fix" things with prescriptions.

But guess what? There are other things that work that don't have side effects! Retinoids are prescribed because they unclog pores and can decrease inflammation. Our Green Tea with Tea Tree Oil Facial Scrub also unclogs pores and decreases inflammation except that instead of dryness and irritation, you get incredibly soft, smooth skin! Hmmm, side effects or soft smooth skin? Is that even a choice?

Antibiotics work because they kill bacteria. Green Tea and Tea Tree Oil also have anti-bacterial properties, but without side effects.

If you or someone you love is dealing with acne, do yourself a huge favor and try our Green Tea with Tea Tree Oil Facial Scrub. It works on acne AND it leaves skin feeling so soft and smooth AND it's all-natural and good for you and your skin!
